Role-Playing Cards - Breakdown –Spanish are ideal for allowing participants to practice communicating about car or motorcycle problems during an emergency. They learn how to call for assistance and explain what is wrong with their vehicle, as well as how to clearly describe their location.
In one scenario, for example, a participant might say: “My motorcycle won’t start” or “The brakes aren’t working.” They also learn to ask questions such as: “When can you come?” and “How long will it take for the mechanic to get here?” This helps them obtain the necessary information.
Additionally, there are also comedic and challenging situations. For instance, someone calls roadside assistance and accidentally says: “The intestines of the car aren’t working,” when they mean the pipes. This creates confusion and a funny moment in which the participant must clarify what they mean.
Another scenario could involve roadside assistance saying they will arrive within 30 minutes, but after waiting for 2 hours, no one shows up. The participant must angrily call and say: “I have to catch my flight! Where are you?”
An added challenge is when someone is left waiting in the cold and later discovers that roadside assistance noted the wrong address. The participant might say in frustration: “I’ve been waiting for hours, but you’ve gone to a different place!”
These role-plays help participants practice practical language use and improvisation in stressful or comedic situations during a breakdown.
