What is VocaKit® – Food and Drink – Engels??

VocaKit® – Eten en drinken – Engels is een interactieve leerset met 20 beeldkaarten en 20 bingokaarten, ontworpen om de Engelse woordenschat over het thema “Eten en Drinken” spelenderwijs te vergroten. De set helpt cursisten om nieuwe woorden te leren en direct toe te passen in zinnen en gesprekjes. Bovendien maakt Voca Kit het leren van dagelijkse onderwerpen toegankelijker en stimuleert het actief spreken.

Objectives

• VocaKit® has several key objectives:
  • First, it increases students’ vocabulary related to food and drink.
  • Daarnaast stimuleert het cursisten om zelfstandig zinnen te maken en de Engelse zinsstructuren rondom dit thema te oefenen.
  • It motivates students to speak the language through playful, interactive exercises.
  • Finally, it helps develop listening and speaking skills through challenging activities.

Why use images?

Images make learning both easier and more fun. They help students recognize and remember words faster. They’re ideal for observation exercises and games, keeping students actively engaged. Visual cards also work well for group activities, promoting participation in both small and large groups.

How to use it:

1. Learning and reviewing words:Show each image and clearly pronounce the name of the food or drink. Let students repeat the word. Then flip the card to show the written word so they can connect the image with its spelling.
2. Forming sentences:Use the cards to practice simple sentences like “I eat...,” “I drink...,” or “I like...”. This helps students not only form independent sentences but also describe the topic in their own words.
3. Playing bingo:Bingo is a great way to review vocabulary. Various bingo versions are possible:
   • Image – Image:The teacher shows an image and says the name. Students find and cover the same image on their cards.
   • Word – Image:The teacher shows the written word and reads it aloud. Students find and cover the matching picture.
   • Image – Word:The teacher shows an image and says the word. Students find and cover the corresponding word.
   • Word – Word:The teacher shows a word, and students cover the same word on their card—without an image.

Game Examples

• Do you have this food?Each student takes a card and places it face down. One asks another, “Do you have the apple?” If so, the card is handed over. If not, the reply is “No, I don’t have it,” and the game continues.
• True or false?Split the class into two teams. One team names a food or drink and says they “have” it. The other team guesses if it’s true. If correct, they win the card; if wrong, the first team continues. The team with the most cards wins.
• In the restaurant I see...:The teacher begins with “In the restaurant I see... a glass of water.” The next student repeats and adds an item: “In the restaurant I see a glass of water and an apple.” The chain continues until someone forgets the sequence.
• Guess the food or drink:Tape a card with a food or drink item on each student’s back. Students ask questions like “Am I a type of fruit?” or “Do you keep me in the fridge?”. The first to guess correctly wins, and the game continues until all items are guessed.

In short, with VocaKit® course participants learn the topic of ‘Food and Drink’ in an active and playful way. They gain more self-confidence in speaking, thus improving their command of Ènglish.
