In one scenario, for example, a participant might say: \u201cMy motorcycle won\u2019t start\u201d or \u201cThe brakes aren\u2019t working.\u201d They also learn to ask questions such as: \u201cWhen can you come?\u201d and \u201cHow long will it take for the mechanic to get here?\u201d This helps them obtain the necessary information.<\/p>\n
Additionally, there are also comedic and challenging situations. For instance, someone calls roadside assistance and accidentally says: \u201cThe intestines of the car aren\u2019t working,\u201d when they mean the pipes. This creates confusion and a funny moment in which the participant must clarify what they mean.<\/p>\n
Another scenario could involve roadside assistance saying they will arrive within 30 minutes, but after waiting for 2 hours, no one shows up. The participant must angrily call and say: \u201cI have to catch my flight! Where are you?\u201d<\/p>\n
An added challenge is when someone is left waiting in the cold and later discovers that roadside assistance noted the wrong address. The participant might say in frustration: \u201cI\u2019ve been waiting for hours, but you\u2019ve gone to a different place!\u201d<\/p>\n
These role-plays help participants practice practical language use and improvisation in stressful or comedic situations during a breakdown.<\/p>\n
